Struggles, troubles, highwaymen: enforcement in IP law

A long time has passed since the founding of BMM in 1974. That’s why BMM is proud that after five decades it still exists and is stronger than ever. Lawyers, attorneys, in-house counsel and academics from all corners of the Benelux Union come together.

Numerous committees are committed to better legislation, smoother practice, sharing knowledge and facilitating networks.

The anniversary year will continue on Thursday 28 March 2024 near Maastricht under the umbrella title “Struggles, troubles, highwaymen: enforcement in the IP law”.

Due to the anniversary, it was decided to nominate a former BMM chairman Michael Haegens (Leeway) who will manage the day. An overview of CJEU case law will be given by Claire Leonelli (/c Law). A look at the future is given by Anke Moerland (Maastricht University), with a practical consideration of the application of AI in IP law; after which the DLA Piper trio Alexis Fierens, David Alexandre and Willemijn Rensen make a legal comparison on IP enforcement in all three Member States. Maarten Haak (Hoogenraad & Haak) and Eric De Gryse (Simont Braun) further discuss enforcement of unregistered rights. Finally, Marie Keup (Taylor Wessing) and Florence Verhoestraete (NautaDutilh) will present a lecture on settlement and coexistence agreements. The lectures conclude with a drinks reception, followed by a 5-course dinner and a wonderful party.
